Following years of childhood bullying I internalised my experiences and let them create a deep sense of self-doubt and lack of worthiness in me. After a strong viewpoint to the contrary from a friend in my mid-twenties, I started to transform my self-doubt. I now come to you as a empowered and confident woman excited to create a ripple effect of change in the world.

My transformation included a ton of mindset work and really challenging the view I had of myself. It didn’t happen overnight, but I took daily incremental steps to transform my thinking from self-doubt to self-belief. I work on my mindset daily to ensure I stay connected to my empowered self.

In this blog, I’ll be sharing with you empowering strategies to boost your confidence and self-belief and what to do if self-doubt is holding you back. So that you can cultivate unshakeable self-belief, go after your dreams and create a ripple effect.

The Ripple Effect of Confidence

Let’s start by addressing the ripple effect in terms of self-belief. Our clients and those around us are affected and influenced by our energy and our perception of how we see ourselves. So if we doubt ourselves, it’s going to be hard for others to cultivate their own self-belief.

When we work on ourselves; our own self-belief and confidence, it creates a personal transformation and ripple effect as it inspires others. Think of role models you have in your life, whether on social or in person. What is it that inspires you about them? Do you inspire to be more like them? Confidence and self-belief are contagious and we tend to want to model our role models and those that inspire us.

Cultivating Confidence & Self-Belief

Let’s look at some practical strategies for boosting your confidence and self-belief. So you can create your own ripple effect of change with your clients and those you wish to influence and support. 

Start by encouraging yourself to be kind and compassionate to yourself and acknowledge your potential. Often we are our harshest critics. Practice words of kindness and compassion towards yourself. Accept yourself as imperfectly perfect knowing that you are doing your best at any given moment. When you soothe your internal mind with kind words you elevate your outer word with a new found confidence and self-belief.

Personal growth is a journey and can be supported by daily affirmations and visualisation exercises to reprogramme your mind for the ripple effect. Affirm what you want to think and feel as if it’s already been manifested in your life. Each daily mindset practice has the power to compound over time, so keep focused and stay consistent with your daily practices.

Overcoming Moments of Self-Doubt

Self-awareness is key to recognising when self-doubt creeps in, helping you feel more empowered to create that ripple effect. Don’t just dismiss the negative thoughts when they fleetingly fly in. Take a moment to pause and reflect. Notice how you feel in your body? Are they beliefs that you’ve inherited from others or created for yourself? How true are they?

There are many strategies for managing and overcoming self-doubt, with three of my favourites being…

Shifting your focus: Have self-awareness and become aware of where your time, energy and focus are going. Are you focusing on the negatives and drama in your life or are you practising gratitude for what you’re experiencing in the moment?

Words of affirmation: Recording affirmations in your own voice can be very powerful and a fun one to reprogramme your mind with new beliefs. I listen to my affirmations daily and have different voice notes for different aspects of my mindset that I’m focusing on.

Journaling: This has to be a long standing favourite of mine. Just the ability to brain dump what’s in your head and untangle the spaghetti of thoughts can create amazing clarity, aha’s and lightbulb moments. If you’re new to journaling, just give it a try. Don’t overthink it!
