You may often think that you’re the problem, but it’s not you but your thoughts that are the problem!

Your negative thoughts can become all consuming and feel like an iTunes playlist on repeat. That’s how it used to be for me, until I did the work to turn my mindset around.

This week’s blog is going to help you recognise these patterns of self-sabotage and negative self-talk. So you can transform your negative beliefs and break disempowering patterns of behaviour

Set your intention

When you’re caught up in negative self-talk you’re focused on what you DON’T want. The first step to transform the way you think and feel is to set an intention of what you DO want and how you want to feel!

Get super clear on what it is you want. It may be a monetary goal, an experience or something else. Spend a couple of minutes each day focusing on what it is you desire. Feel, see and immerse yourself in the picture.

This is a powerful way to reprogramme your mind, because the brain doesn’t know the difference between imagination and reality. It will seek out opportunities or motivate you to take action towards your dreams.

Clear your mind

When you quieten your mind it helps silence your inner critic. The one that says you’re not good enough, can’t achieve your goals and don’t deserve success. If you’re new to meditation, don’t overthink it. You can’t get it wrong and your mind will wonder. That’s OK. I often plan my meals and food shopping when meditating.

But it’s about noticing when your thoughts drift and coming back to the present moment. Because the past has already happened, the future hasn’t happened yet, all you have is the present moment.

Thought Flipping

Another way to transform your thoughts and feelings is to do a thought flipping exercise. When you notice a negative thought, write it down and then flip it to a positive thought. Do this as much as you can each day to reprogramme your mind.

The more you do this the more you’ll retrain your brain to default to positive and empowering thoughts, which changes how you think and feel. When you change the way you think and feel you change the way you act. With new actions you get new outcomes.
