Life can throw us setbacks and shake our confidence and self-belief, leading us to doubt our abilities and struggle with imposter syndrome. When you’re experiencing low self-confidence and self-doubt, it’s crucial to develop a strong mindset while continuing to market yourself boldly, make more sales, and create greater impact in your business.
In this week’s blog, I’ll share 5 of my top tips for believing in your potential.
From self-doubt to self-trust
Mindful self-reflection is a powerful practice for getting yourself back in the game and overcoming imposter syndrome. Taking the time to understand your thoughts, feelings, and reactions creates profound shifts, as we often suppress our emotions and get caught up in the busyness of being a business owner. Sometimes, we need to slow down to speed up.
Schedule time in your calendar for self-reflection and practise self-awareness. The more you do this, the better you’ll become at identifying limiting beliefs or patterns of self-doubt. You can then work towards reframing those negative beliefs into positive, empowering thoughts and feelings. Just reach for the next best-feeling thought and build from there!
Seek out and embrace positive feedback
If you’re struggling to believe in your success after a setback, I encourage you to actively seek feedback from clients and colleagues. You may be surprised at what you learn about yourself, and I can guarantee this is one of the fastest ways to bounce back.
We are often our own harshest critics, so take the time to truly hear positive feedback from others. As Marie Forleo says, “Don’t look at what’s wrong with you, look at what’s right with you.” Instead of dismissing compliments, make an effort to acknowledge and receive positive comments about the value you bring to your clients. Use this positive reinforcement as a powerful reminder of your capabilities.
Invest in a coach or mentor
A great way to overcome self-doubt and courageously pursue your dreams is to work with a coach or mentor who can motivate, inspire, and empower you. Find someone who can help you identify your blindspots and hold you accountable when you self-sabotage or doubt your potential.
Having a coach or mentor provides invaluable guidance and support. Plus an external perspective that will benefit you as you navigate your coaching journey. When you find the right mentor, you’ll have a sounding board to share your hopes, dreams, and fears. This relationship will help reinforce your self-belief and offers huge opportunities for personal and professional growth. Even coaches can benefit tremendously from having their own coach who can help them move forward.
Cultivate confidence through affirmations
Affirmations are a simple yet powerful tool for reprogramming your mindset and boosting self-belief. By repeating positive statements about your abilities and worth, you reinforce an unshakeable faith in your unlimited potential.
Start your day by reciting affirmations that resonate with you. Such as “I am capable of achieving anything I set my mind to” or “I have valuable skills and make a positive impact.” You can even create affirmation screensavers or sticky notes to keep these empowering thoughts top of mind throughout the day. The more you immerse yourself in self-belief, the more it becomes your default mindset.
