Confidence is great when we have it but when we don’t or it’s lacking in some way, it can really affect how we show up and create an impact for our clients. A lack of self-confidence affects not only the way we speak to ourselves but the actions that we take and don’t take.

In this week’s blog we’ll be looking at why we self-sabotage our success and how to break free from these patterns. What to do if your self-confidence is affecting your ability to achieve your goals. Lastly, we’ll address how to increase your confidence, create more impact and make more money in your coaching business.

Breaking patterns

Everything is going really well and then we do something (often unconsciously) which sabotages our success. It may be that you’ve stopped being consistent with your marketing, resisted increasing your prices or spent weeks and months procrastinating on releasing your latest offer.

The mind likes the familiar and when we stretch ourselves too far our habitual patterns pull us back into our safety zone. It doesn’t feel safe and we don’t feel confident or comfortable in facing the unknown and the uncertainty that comes with that.

To break free from this pattern you will benefit from taking incremental steps. Take one small step at a time and give yourself and your mind time to get adjusted to a new normal. What once felt unfamiliar and unsafe will feel familiar and safe. You could start with emailing your list about your new offer and then taking the next step by sharing it on socials, where more eyes will be on you.

Achieving your goals with confidence

When we don’t hit our goals it can affect our confidence and knock us back. It’s important to take the time to reflect on why you didn’t hit your goals. Is there something you were resisting? What are the negative consequences of you hitting your goals? Were your goals big enough? Did they motivate you? Did you believe you could achieve them?

Confidence is a big factor in achieving your goals. If you don’t believe you can do something, you will hold yourself back. So how do you increase your confidence for greater success? Firstly, take the time to acknowledge and celebrate the goals that you did achieve. By focusing on your accomplishments you’ll shift your mindset into a more positive place.

Think of a time you felt really confident. Close your eyes and see what you saw, hear what you heard and feel what you felt. Amplify that feeling in your body and connect with it. Make the picture bigger, brighter and bolder. As you do this you can create an anchor around these positive feelings by holding your thumb and one of your fingers together. 

The more you re-imagine a time you felt confident and create an anchor with your thumb and forefinger, the easier it will be to re-create this feeling of confidence.

Creating more impact

When your confidence gets in the way of your success and creating more impact there’s several things you can do…

  • Flip the switch on your negative language and consciously reframe it into the positive
  • Use EFT / tapping to clear the negative beliefs and emotions that are holding you back
  • Hire a coach to support and empower you to transform your limiting beliefs

Confidence is a state of mind and it can be changed at any time. It’s often our fears that are holding us back and keeping us in a state of lack. Identify something that scares you, that you tell yourself you don’t have the confidence to do, and then to do it.

Facing our fears (as long as they don’t put us in danger) is sometimes the quickest way to increase our confidence and create more impact in our business. If you don’t want to be where you are in 3 or 5 years’ time I encourage you to feel the fear and do it anyway as Susan Jeffers says.

With greater confidence, you’ll take more aligned action, show up in a more empowered way and get better results for your clients. This will lead to you being an expert in what you do and will create more sales in your business.
