“You require nothing outside of yourself to increase your wealth consciousness and, therefore, your money. All you need is within you right now.” This is a quote from the book ‘Happy Pocket Full of Money’ by David Cameron Gikandi and it also relates to that internal pull to sign up to your next online course to support you in your Assistant role. It’s a reminder that you already haven’t everything you need within you.
In this week’s blog, we’ll be exploring how you can shift from focusing on external achievements to accepting your inner worth. Why it’s important to understand the intention behind your next training course. Lastly, what it means to feel worthy and accepting of yourself without having to prove yourself

Understanding Your Intentions
Professional development is important but is not when it’s at the cost of your self-worth. Have you ever stopped and asked yourself why you’re investing in the next course? Do you really need it or will it just make you feel good for a while? What’s attached to that feeling?

Chasing the next shiny object, or in this case, your next Microsoft 365 training course is not going to make you feel more worthy, confident or accepted. That’s where personal development comes in, because your self-worth is not determined by your external achievements and how many courses or skills you have under your belt. The best kind of investment you can ever have is belief in yourself, instead chasing qualifications and training courses to prove that you are good enough.
Shifting From External To Internal
Once you’ve recognised your pattern of investing in the next external course you can start to look at what you already have. When did you last do a skills inventory? What are you basing your worth on? What needs to change?

Another Microsoft 365 course is not going to be the golden bullet to feeling worthy and accepting of yourself. That has to come from within you and your thoughts. You get to think your way to being worthy and confident as an Assistant. Another course will never give you that and you don’t need that. Your inner self-worth is all you need to feel enough.
Worthiness and Self-Acceptance
What does it mean to feel truly worthy? Everyone will have a different answer to this and the only one that is important is what you tell yourself. One thing that is universal across everyone, is that self-worth comes from within. It doesn’t come from proving yourself through external achievements, through the next Microsoft 365 course.

If you decide to do a course or commit to your next investment, ask yourself whether you are doing it to prove your worth or whether it’s to fill a genuine skills gap. Feeling worthy and accepting of yourself comes from a deep knowing that you are enough, that you don’t need anyone or anything to complete you or tell you you’re good enough. Because you already know in your heart and mind that you are.
