Don’t underestimate the power of the subconscious mind!

I like to use this analogy when comparing the conscious and the subconscious mind:
‘The conscious mind is the car, but the subconscious mind is the driver’. This basically means that what goes into the subconscious mind affects where the driver takes the car.
The subconscious mind receives very clear messages and listens to your conscious thoughts 24/7. Are you most a negative or positive person? Either way you are constantly programming your mind with the thoughts you have and affecting the direction of the car.
Here’s five things I bet you didn’t know about the subconscious mind
1. Where do our beliefs come from?
We are born into this world and through experiences with others we build our identity, create a model of the world and individual belief systems.
We then look for evidence in the world to support these beliefs and for people that will fit with our experiences and model of the world.
Such as…
· I’m not good enough
· I’ll never be successful
· It’s hard to be heard
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) can change ALL this by reprogramming the mind!
2. The mind can’t differentiate between reality and the imagined
The subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between reality and the imagination. This is why visualisation is so powerful. If you visualise abundance, a loving committed relationship, renewed health you’ll manifest your desires. I’m not saying it happens overnight.
It doesn’t! But with a daily practice of at least 15 minutes visualisation a day you can programme your mind to view the imagined as your reality and before long this will materialise in your life.
Sue Stone, Happiness Coach and secret millionaire (TV programme) did exactly this through the use of visualisation and other tools such as the power of positive thought. In her book she says ‘…whatever our conscious mind believes and accepts, the subconscious mind takes as some instruction and proceeds to manifest that thought into our lives and brings it into our reality’.
3. The subconscious mind doesn’t process negatives
Have you ever said, ‘I don’t want to drop this’, ‘I don’t want to be broke’? Well the subconscious mind doesn’t process negatives, so it will hear ‘I want to drop this’ and ‘I want to be broke’. The subconscious mind will simply act on a command received in the conscious mind. So, if you sow negative thoughts you will reap negative outcomes and if you sow positive thoughts you will reap positive outcomes. You have to send a very clear message to your subconscious mind about what you want. Focus on stating your requests in the positive sense and eliminate the negatives.
4. EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) can override negative beliefs
Through EFT (tapping) we gently tap on end points of meridian while acknowledging the problem, the emotional issue, and saying positive affirmations. This simply shifts negative energy in our meridian system and paves the way for positive emotions to rise to the surface.
Emotion is energy in motion. We must remember that EVERYTHING is made up of energy, even done to an anatomic level. Even our thoughts and emotions our energy. The whole universe is energy!
5. Try this technique for eliminating your negative beliefs
The moment you recognise a negative thought, acknowledge it and end it there and then. Don’t try and understand or analyse it, just simple cut it off! Some people say ‘cancel’. When you first become aware you’re focusing on a negative firstly thought acknowledge it and then immediately replace it with a positive thought. We also partly use this approach in EFT by reframing a negative thought or statement to the positive in our tapping rounds.
